These are heroic stories, at times risqué, funny, raw with pain and sorrow, and sometimes they describe the most awful misery. The characters are genuine.
I liked many of them and sympathized with their circumstances. Admittedly, I wasn't entirely comfortable with the explicit language of some of the stories, but what kept me reading was their heart. The story of the legacy of the uranium mines was a very moving response to what is happening to our north, its people, its land and waterways.
The Afterwords provides additional information related to the author's writing process and inspiration for each story.
Highly recommended. Adult Fiction.
